28 Weeks...and Counting?

How did this happen?

Don't answer that. Let me clarify.

One, how did I succumb to doing cheesy mirror poses with my phone camera? (This is what I look like to me all the time. To you, it's inverted. Weird).

More importantly, how did I get so pregnant so fast? I'm at 28 weeks. Go ahead and comment about how huge I am, or how great I look, or whatever you think. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I'm used to it.

I've carried all three babies the exact same way: front and center.

And here we are, in the home stretch of this pregnancy! Really! The third trimester -- whenever that starts, depending on who you ask. 28 weeks sounds good to me -- 12 more (or less!) to go.

I haven't written much about it lately because there's really not much to say. I get occasional heartburn, have to use the bathroom a lot, but get around okay. Exercise and a support brace have helped a lot.

Up until Christmas I didn't really allow myself to think about the baby, because I didn't have the time or energy for it. But now...it's time. Time to think about pink things and birthing procedures and cloth diapering.

Did you catch that? I'm catching up with the green trend and going cloth this time around. I asked for advice on my (personal) Facebook page yesterday and got about 20 responses. I'd love to hear more if you've got it.

While on the one hand I'm trying to do the necessary planning and preparation, most of the time I completely forget that I'm pregnant and that there will be another -- still to be named -- person in our household. That's why 28 weeks snuck up on me. In previous pregnancies I would read the books and the email updates and whatnot telling me about the exact size and shape of the baby at each phase. This time around...what, you mean I have to keep track? Good thing the doctors' appointments are on the calendar or I'd have no idea how "far along" I am.

At any rate, the baby is coming whether I'm counting down the days or not. Here we go!

  1. We love cloth diapers! I use the BumGenius brand and have been super pleased with both the pockets and the all-in-ones. We started out doing it to save money, but after a year I wouldn't ever go to disposables! I can't stand the smell or feel of them. We also use the Flip diapers (also a BumGenuis product). They are significantly cheaper per diaper change because you reuse the covers. They are our go-to day time diaper.

    Congrats on the baby!

  2. Thanks for joining my family's adventures on my blog. I can relate to this post because there were so many things I did during my first pregnancy that I didn't do during this last one. Sometimes I feel a little guilty about it, but everyday life with a toddler got in the way. I hope Mr. Jude will understand one day.
I use cloth diapers and absolutely love it. I use Charlie Banana, BumGenius, and Flip. I definitely like the pocket diapers the best. Although the prefolds are a cheap cloth diapering route, I think the pocket system is more absorbent and fit better. That's just my two cents on the topic. I hope you find a system you like.

    1. Thanks! Since I've done disposables before, I'm definitely willing to pay a little extra for some of the nicer cloth diapers, as they will still save me money in the long run.
